Q1 Workday - Concrete and Dirt

For our Q1 workday in 2017, a group of us got together and did some yard work. One team dug a trench in the front yard to replace the main water line to the house, and another worked in the back yard, cutting concrete to dig trenches for the last bit of the water reclamation system.

The water system will now receive water from every downspout on the house. The water is piped underground to the sump tank, where it is then pumped into the main tank for our toilets and hose spigots. Because we get so much rain in Seattle, we have another underground pipe that acts as a tank overflow and moves water to the site of a rain garden on the north side o the house. Who knew rain water systems could be so easy?
